Hello again to all you who are continuing to be a part of Riding High by using this site.  Our continued prayer is that everyone who visits this site is encouraged and inspired in their relationship with the living God. "Jesus!"  I am not able to keep things very current here but that seems to be the down side of keeping up with the demanding travel schedule.  My focus must remain on discipleship of the men I have been called to and sharing the gospel message with as many people as we can reach.  However, I still believe that this site can increasingly be a great tool to many of you so the following is an attempt to expand on its usefulness. As many of you know, my travels over the last twenty years have led me to some amazing people and because of those relationships we have seen the Lord bring together a team of people who are excited to do whatever they can to serve our Father as a family.  The following story is from one of these such men.  I asked Doug Wright (RHM board member) to give us a brief description of how Jesus took a tragedy and turned it into some beautiful relationships and how he continues to use our relationship for his Kingdom. Read and enjoy and be sure to check out this mans teachings by clicking the "Searching The Word" tab below.

Who is Doug? How is he part of Riding High Ministry?
Years ago I was a detective working major felony cases. One such case involved the rape murder of a very young girl. She had traveled to Washington State from Idaho to visit her mother. The day after her arrival in Washington she went walking along a trail picking wild flowers for the dinner table. When she didn't return home she became the center of a search that ended in the investigation of her death. There is a verse in the Bible that says, "All things work together for good for those who love God." One has to wonder if there is truth to a verse like this in the details of the first paragraph! God's word is always true! During my career in law enforcement God continually blessed me. Many times I prayed for guidance to solve tough cases. This case was no exception and I knelt where we had found her body and asked for Gods guidance. God helped us solve this case, and the man was brought to justice. During the hearings I formally met the father and stepmother who traveled from Idaho for the 3 months of trial. They had no place to stay outside motels so my wife and I invited them to stay with us. We had a large home with plenty of room and they accepted our offer. Needless to say we became exceptional friends and remain so to this day. (We have a daughter who was younger than the victim.) After a successful trial we traveled to Idaho to visit. During our stay in Idaho, our daughter asked if there was a way to go horseback riding. The couple we visited knew a young cowboy and so they took us to Todd Pierces' home. Todd and Leslie Pierce have been friends since that horse back ride, brought about by a homicide of tragic nature. Todd Pierce became a bronco rider in the professional rodeo circuit. When injury sidelined him for good, God called him into ministry. I got a call from Todd and he asked me to join his board on Riding High Ministry. You might say that I was blessed and fortunate to be there when it all started. One of the issues of Riding High, that always bothered us, was the lack of support for those who make a new commitment to Christ at Cowboy Church. Todd travels to events all over the U.S. and now even outside the U.S. Todd and us as a board felt responsible to provide scriptural contact with anyone who wanted or needed to learn more. That is how this Bible study came about. Doug is just an old investigator, out to pasture, who hopes to share some scriptural truth to those who might be in need of encouragement.
