Hello again family,
We made it home from North Carolina last night and once again our God amazed us. Ministry at the event was good as usual and the men of the PBR continue to do the work of the ministry. This weekend we had Steve Grace (friend from Australia) who is a great singer/song writer who has become part of our family. As I had expected, he ministered to us through music at the service, but what was greater still was the way the Lord used him in the lives of the riders on an individual basis. It must be a heart thing.
Mike Lee was scheduled to be the guest speaker at the service, but Sat. night he had a wreck in the arena that caused my heart to stop and tens of thousands of others to look on speechless. The silence in that packed coliseum made it feel even more dramatic as Mike laid motionless in the arena for what seemed to be several minutes. But praise be to the Father that soon Mike regained consciousness and began to fight the paramedics to be freed from his restraints. Dr. Freeman examined him, said he had a severe concussion, probable broken cheek bone and sent him to the hotel under the supervision of Wiley Petersen and Dustin Hall.
The next morning we were just getting ready to start the service when Mike and about six or seven other riders filed into the arena to join us. Mike walked right up to me and said “I’m ready!” I asked those with him if he was ok to speak and they said he seemed fine. I was stunned by his courage and said “Lets pray.” So we all gathered around and Mike took a knee as we presented ourselves to the Lord as vessels for his glory. Mike did an amazing job conveying how sin steals our dreams and compromises our strength. Who better to deliver this message than a man who stood before them as a man who just rose from the dead, still bruised and scarred from the night before, and willing to be far more transparent about his own sin than most could even bear. I was so proud to call him my brother! The comical side of the service was when I had to interrupt him because he began to repeat himself nearly word for word. We all laughed as we knew that the concussion was still an issue that was leaving his mind unclear. These men are changing how we do ministry and the passion in which it should be done. Let this be a challenge to each of you as you consider what has held you back from giving an answer for the hope that is within you. You way need more discipline, but most likely you may only need to have a heavenly vision of the magnitude of your calling. Press onward Christian soldiers!
In the service of the King!
