After taking a family of five on a two week, 3000 mile road trip that
was blessed by God, I could write a book. This particular book would
take you on a roller-coaster ride of emotions as it would be filled with
stories of tears shed from discouragement, lives changed from the
speaking of the word, kisses given with the pacific ocean sunset as a
back drop, screams of excitement from the worlds greatest roller-coaster
rides, and spankings given from a father who loves his boys. There would
be stories of hope restored to broken hearted men and crushed women, a
tell of the time I saw joy in the eyes of a little girl as she watched
the father she had prayed for come to repentance and proclaim he was
ready to lead his family as a man after God's own heart. I could write
pages of precious conversations that take place when you coupe up three
small children in a suburban for eight hours at a time, or tells of how
a woman of God has the ability to bring comfort and familiarity to an
infant in an unfamiliar environment. Or how she could still flow in
grace and patience while overcoming step throat as she tended to her
family. I would have to describe how completely and utterly disgusting
the inside of a vehicle can become after 20 or so meals shared within
it. How fresh cooked crab tastes so much better with the sea air blowing
in your face and how suddenly you could find so much joy in watching
your family do everyday sort of things. How something as simple as
a sincere thank you could bring a hotel staff a monumental sense of
accomplishment and a hug for a stranger can open the door to share with
them the gospel of Jesus. How in one hour, men can go from world class
celebrities basking in the praise and applause of tens of thousands of
fans, to children of God in a back room on their knees holding hands
with each other praising God for his goodness and presenting themselves
to him as living sacrifices. How God is good beyond human description,
yet he has given us permission to walk in this beautiful truth. Father,
help us to never loose sight of the simple, practical ways in which you
choose to show your self to us first and then to the rest of the world
through us.
