Dear Family ~
When Leslie and I were new Christians, we entered the world of rodeo. In the new world we lived in, because we were traveling every weekend, there was no church involvement for us to be mentored to – God’s grace nursed us through as new babes in Christ during this period of our lives. During these years as a rodeo athlete, Leslie and I saw how necessary it was to be out in the midst of the men and women of pro rodeo as lights for Christ. We persevered in what we sensed God wanted us to do when personal injuries led to my athletic rodeo career ending in 2001. What we saw at that time as a tragedy, we soon realized was a new door of opportunity opening up for us and we found that our burden to minister full time would continue as Chaplains mentoring the families traveling with the PBR. The natural outcome of mentoring others in Christ is that people grow up and have an ever-increasing desire to reach others.
There is a large group of men within the PBR that God has given success and fame to that are no longer satisfied with filling coliseums with people and simply entertaining them with bull riding. They, along with me have felt that the Lord has brought the people so we can share the Truth of His Kingdom and His love with them. Because of a new ministry opportunity through a “Faith Night” concept, this dream is now an even greater reality. Immediately following competitions, the men who are still sweating and bleeding from their competition can take hold of a microphone and share the truth of Jesus with others and I share my “Born Wild, Created to be Free” wild horse- breaking illustrated Gospel presentation. Along with the partnership of the PBR, Riding High Ministries with the help from local churches are able to transform a sporting arena into a tabernacle in less than three minutes. While we are excited about this great opportunity, we realize that this is not something that Riding High Ministries can do on our own. We need help from our local Christian family and we need the help of our Christian family located in communities all across America. I put out this plea and ask that wherever you are right now, would you and your church please, prayerfully consider ways to partner with us and together, let’s utilize this opportunity to reach others for Christ. This is not just a Riding High Ministries opportunity – with you, it is our opportunity together to make an eternal difference in the lives of thousands.
